The Escape of the Ants / Die Flucht der Ameisen

The Ants' Escape - The First Novel

What if?

Would a volcano really erupt in Germany again? Not just anywhere, but exactly at the narrow point of the Middle Rhine, where it happened with the "Hohe Buche" volcano perhaps 80,000 years ago. Back then, the lava flow made the short distance down the slope to the Rhine in a short time. The lava built up a small delta. It is not known how far the Rhine was narrowed or even dammed. The Romans valued the basalt so close to the Rhine and used it for their buildings in Trier. What would happen if a volcano erupts here again, this time with a longer breath, so long that the Rhine is dammed? Where would the next outlet be for the masses of water that would flood the Upper Rhine Graben in a few months?
